Think About Your Child's Future Goals

First, talk as a family and think about your child's future goals, and what kind of support they'll need to reach them:

Talk to your child about this, if you can.

  • Encourage them to think about their interests, values, and future goals.

  • Give them opportunities to practice making decisions and to learn about themselves.

  • Get advice from friends, teachers, or service providers.

  • These conversations will help the IEP team (including you!) create a transition plan that is really what your child wants.
