Make sure you're okay with the decision

If your child does not qualify, the school can help you find other support that you may need.

You might agree with their decision, or you might not.

If you agree, you can find other kinds of supports that may help your child.

If not, you have the right to get another evaluation, or to ask for an appeal.

Here's what you can do:

  • Ask questions at the eligibility meeting.  Make sure you understand why they made this decision.  Ask what other services your child can still get.

  • Talk to your child's teacher and others at your child's school and see what they think.

  • Talk to your child if possible.  Do they feel they can succeed in school without extra help?

  • Decide if you agree.  If not, see the next page.
