Make sure you're ok with the decision

If your child does not qualify, the school can help you find other support that you may need.

You may agree with their decision, or you may not.

  • If you agree, you can find other kinds of supports that may help your child.

  • If not, you have the right to get another evaluation, or to ask for an appeal.

Here's what you can do:

  • Talk to your child's teacher and others involved in the evaluation.Make sure you understand why they made this decision.

  • Ask what other services your child could still get.

  • Talk to your child if possible and see what they think. Do they feel they can succeed in their classroom without extra help?

  • Decide if you agree. If not, see the next page.
