Learn about MBHP, in case you ever need it

We want you to know about special services MassHealth offers, in case you ever need them.

If your family member has emotional or behavioral issues in the future, they may qualify for services that can make life a lot easier.
MBHP is the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership.It provides mental health and substance abuse support services.

 

Your family member qualifies for MBHP if they are 21 or older, have MassHealth Standard, MassHealth CommonHealth, or MassHealth Family Assistance, and are enrolled in the Primary Care Clinician (PCC) plan.

Here's what you can do:

  1. If your family member is not on the PCC plan, or if you’re not sure, call a MassHealth Benefits Advisor at 1-800-497-4648 and ask.

  2. Then ask your family member's doctor to refer you to a mental health professional, like a psychologist or psychiatrist.

  3. Schedule a mental health or behavioral health screening with a mental health professional.

  4. Send MassHealth the reports that confirm an emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric disability.MassHealth must agree that the services they will provide are medically necessary.

  5. Decide what type of MBHP service is best for your family member.
