Parent Trainings from Families Helping Families and LaPTIC

These local programs have developed trainings to help parents practice literacy skills with their children.

They can also work with you one-on-one. Call your local center to talk to people who understand and get advice, training and support!

Families Helping Families is a good place to start:

  • A network of support offices across the state to help families of people with disabilities.

  • Offers parent support groups and trainings 

  • Help with education and other services

  • Most program staff members are parents of kids or adults with disabilities.

  • They can give you information and support, and offer free help and services for many kinds of needs.

Louisiana Parent Training and Information Center (LaPTIC)

  • LaPTIC is a statewide center whose mission is to help families with educational challenges.

  • It's part of Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans.

  • Offers parent training in person and online.

  • Works with families of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities, birth to 26.

  • Helps parents participate effectively in their children’s education and development.

  • Partners with professionals and policy makers to improve outcomes for all children with disabilities.
