Why it's important to have a diagnosis

Having an autism diagnosis can open the doors to various support programs offered by your State. Read on to learn more benefits.

You may be thinking "Why does it matter if my child has a diagnosis?"

Here's why:

  • It matters because there are things you can do to help your child. The sooner the better!

  • There are treatments that can help, including many different kinds of therapies and in some cases medicine. The best way to help your child is to start these treatments as soon as possible!

  • If you have a diagnosis, health insurance and government programs can pay for therapies and other supports. This is huge!

  • There is also a large supportive community of parents with autistic children. The chance to connect with this community is another benefit.
